We have facilities across the UK and are looking for new talent to join our team in Burnley.

Key responsibilities

To work proactively to achieve the business objectives in a commercial and timely manner. To ensure that production requirements meet the customer requirements in full using approved operating tools and methodology.

To assume responsibility for quality, resources, processes and plant, championing Health & Safety, Continuous Improvement, Plant Performance, People Performance and Waste Management working within the principles of BRCGS, HARA, ISO 9002 & ISO 14001.

The role of the Shift Manager is critical to the achievement of the Flexibles business and key targets will be set by the business in line with optimising profitability and growth of this business.  These targets which must, wherever possible, be achieved, will be identified from the business plan and customer requirements. 

The Shift Manager is expected to work in conjunction with the Human Resources and senior management functions to manage their team in accordance with both relevant employment legislation, good practice and the evolution of a continuous improvement strategy.  The effective performance and attendance of their team will be critical to the achievement or otherwise of the Shift Manager’s own key targets.  Full commitment to fair and positive management is expected of the Shift Manager.

Flexible cover for colleagues is expected as is an expectation of hours to meet the business needs. 

The attractive shift pattern involves working a mix of 12-hour day and night shifts working an average of 14 shifts per month.

What we are looking for..

  • At least 3 years operational management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of implementing continuous improvement processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively on all levels
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Sense of urgency – demonstrable energy and drive
  • People Development Ability
  • Ability to prioritise own work and work of others to meet deadlines and achieve targets in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Approachable and flexible
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive, positive, enthusiastic - demonstrates “can do” attitude
  • Leads by example with a strong work ethic, and effective delegation skills
  • Proven track record of leadership skills
  • Experience of working in a print / flexo / food packaging environment is preferable
